"[Item Description:] HMCo Plan HH.5.02126 (029-030). Ink on paper general arrangement plan and inboard profile titled 'Sketch for Cruising Yacht [#190520es Unbuilt Schooner for H.V.R. Kennedy]. 90ft overall, 66ft W.L. 17 1/2ft Beam. 10ft 10in Draft. Scale 3/16in = 1ft. Sept[ember] 30, 1905'. With note Pencil notations. In ink: "BP for office Oct. 2 1905". "[Item Description:] I received your letter with blue print of an enlarged #625s DORIS [see Hart Nautical Collections HH.5.02126 (029-030): Preliminary drawing 90ft x 66ft x 17 1/2ft x 10ft-10in (1905-09-30)], am afraid it would be rather cramped for what I want, will you try how a schooner [#190520es] to go in the next schooner class would work out, incl. NGH reply from Oct 23, 1905: sickness prevented me from sketching a schooner, I find the 55 to 64 class A schooner rig and #625s DORIS type of model would be 73' to 75' w.l. and 95' to 100' overall, this is practically the size of the 70 footers [NY70], this is perhaps a larger vessel than you care for, please let me know, also if you want to build this year for if you do we should be getting under-way" (Source: Kennedy, H.V.R. (incl NGH reply). Letter to N.G. Herreshoff. Halsey C. Herreshoff Collection at the Herreshoff Marine Museum Item MR_19960. Correspondence, Folder 54. 1905-10-05.)

"[Item Description:] of course the schooner [#190520es Unbuilt Schooner for H.V.R. Kennedy] makes a little larger boat but a little more room will do no harm, please send rough sketch how she would work out below and approximate cost, I would prefer her built all wood and extra heavy and strong, incl. penciled NGH dimensions: 75' w.l. 100' o.a., 19 1/2' beam, etc." (Source: Kennedy, H.V.R. Letter to N.G. Herreshoff. Halsey C. Herreshoff Collection at the Herreshoff Marine Museum Item MR_19980. Correspondence, Folder 54. (1905)-10-27.)

"[Item Description:] a schooner [#190520es Unbuilt Schooner for H.V.R. Kennedy] of size D could be built in wood but would be better in steel or composite, temperature greatest criticism of steel and next is continual care compared with wood, can be partly removed by having the outside plating to above the waterline of bronze as in VIGILANT and COLUMBIA, at present it looks as if I sketched a little too much length, enclosed blueprint, my brother is away and have been unable to make estimation of prices [this letter is a response to Kennedy's letter from Oct 27, 1905] [see Hart Nautical Collections HH.5.02127 (029-031): Design for D Class Schooner 100' x 75' x 19 1/2' (1905-11-02) and HH.5.02128 (029-032): Design for Schooner 94' 70' x 19 1/2' (1905-11-14)]" (Source: Herreshoff, N.G. "[Item Description:] HMCo-Plan 29-31. Ink on paper preliminary plan arrangement plan and inboard profile titled 'Design for D-Class Schooner [#190520es Unbuilt Schooner for H.V.R. "[Item Description:] Penciled dimensioned sketch with pinpricks titled '6 supports for spare tire holder in Stanley Surry. Nov[ember] 5 1905'. On verso penciled crossed-out letter draft 'HVR Kennedy Esq. 46 Cedar St. New York My dear Mr. Kennedy, I have worked up an interior arrangement for the D class schooner [#190520es Unbuilt Schooner for H.V.R. Kennedy]. Supposing, the general dimensions to be approximately 100ft overall, 75ft w.l., 19 1/2ft beam and about 12ft draft as shown in the inclosed sketch. As I understand your requirements I think this works out very well indeed and gives all the room you require with ample room for the crew, ample galley, saloon of good proportions. From[?] very good[?] staterooms besides two rooms for owners' use. I am in doubt if the bath room as shown on port side is best in accord of not having direct ventilation to deck structures around companionway. You may prefer to change it with the stateroom on opposite side. I assumed the above dimensions for hull before I have worked out the lines and it may be the dimensions would have to be changed somewhat to bring the sailing measurements just under 64ft --- the limit of the D class'."
