Model discussion:
"Thomas: Well, LOUISE, which is a boat we have at the museum which was built in 1907 or 1908 - that winter - has a wooden fin, I guess you'd call it, with no bulb on it.
A.S. deW. Herreshoff: That would be this one. It's the only model that isn't [made of] white pine.
Thomas: Oh really. She's of fir? [speaking of the half model]
A.S. deW. Herreshoff: California redwood.
Thomas: He just made an experiment, did he?
A.S. deW. Herreshoff: Probably just curiosity." (Source: Herreshoff, A. Sidney deW. [Excerpts from the transcript of an oral interview held with Barry Thomas and Maynard Bray, both Mystic Seaport Museum.] Bristol, R.I., October 15, 1975, p. 19.)
