Comment:
"Close inspection of the model suggests that a layer of wood has been glued to the top of the model, adding to its freeboard." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. September 16, 2014.)

Model identification:
"It is possible that this model is for a catboat owned by Albert S. Almy (whose sister was was married to Charles F. Herreshoff and who himself was employed at HMCo since about 1878 where he was foreman of the carpenter department until about 1903 when he retired). See NGH design book entry dated October 15, 1888 'Weighing of model of A. Almy's boat Nora, 18ft, to waterline marked on model, scale 1/12, ... Disp[lacement] = ... 3682lbs'. [NGH was working on a new method to determine displacement from models and was using old models with known vessel weights to validate his method, which would explain why he would work on a model that he had carved eight years earlier.]" (Source: van der Linde, Claas. September 16, 2014.)

"Is this the model for #1882es Nora, the 18ft leg-o-mutton catboat launched on July 3, 1882 for Albert S. Almy? Might the date 1880 on this model be wrong?" (Source: van der Linde, Claas. February 12, 2019.)
