"Note that NGH design booklet entry dated September 30, 1892 refers to 'Navahoe. ... Calculations for final model of 84ft w.l. sloop for R. P. Carroll (#429), ...", suggesting that there must have been preliminary models. Note also that as early as February 1886, NGH had been working on a 84ft w.l. sloop as is evidenced by his notes in offset booklet HH.4.210." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. September 18, 2014.)
