Comment:
"Compare models 1208 and 1209. Model 1208 shows a perfectly circular underwater profile with a rudder attached to it. Model 1209 shows a perfectly circular deck outline with a forward bow part attached to it. A half circle is even inscribed in pencil on the model's deck. These two models might be speculated to be part of an experiment conducted by NGH to compare stability by width or depth. But note also that Model 1209 shows a perfect match with sailplan MR47770 of an open dinghy with a sliding gunter mainsail which might suggest that Model 1208 may have been carved at a different time, possibly in the early 1880s when NGH experimented with similar hull shapes."
