Research Note(s)

"The HMCo Construction Record for this boat (and the entire #1024 class of 12 1/2s) does not show a contract date. Other boats listed on the same page of the Record were contracted for in 1928, leaving the false impression that this was also the case for the #1024 class. Close inspection, however, reveals thinly pencilled notes that this boat was insured already on September 15, 1926. HMCo usually insured boats when construction began and we may thus assume that the day when the boat was insured was very close to when it was set up, i.e. when construction began. The Construction Record also notes 'R.F.H. 10/26/19' which apparently signifies the date when Rudolf F. Haffenreffer inspected the finished boat." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. January 12, 2014.)

"Built in 34 days (setup to finished; equivalent to $32/day)." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. January 16, 2024.)
