Research Note(s)
"N. G. Herreshoff contemplated this design in June and Sept 1891 as per three pages in his 1880s Design Booklet titled '25ft L.W.L. boat for Self. Not used.' The design booklet contains detailed dimensions, weight estimates and material specifications, as well as (under date of September 6, 1891), a displacement calculation that was apparently derived from immersing a model in water and weighing the displaced water. The Halsey C. Herreshoff Collection at the Herreshoff Marine Museum contains the correspondiing offset booklet titled '25ft w.l. for N.G.H. June 1891. Scale 3/4. Frame spaces 12in'. Model 1317 in the Model Room at the Herreshoff Marine Museum appears to be an (imperfect) match for the dimensions provided in the Design Booklet. In turn, an undated and unlabeled sailplan in the Halsey C. Herreshoff Collection at the Herreshoff Museum provides a match for this model. Note that this sailplan appears to show superimposed two or even three hull shapes. Further research should be conducted to determine if other models for this design have survived."
