Model
Model location: H.M.M. Model Room South Wall Center
Vessels from this model:
1 built, modeled by NGH
Original text on model:
"NORA 1880" (Source: Original handwritten annotation on model. Undated.)
Model Description:
"Nora of 1880." (Source: Bray, Maynard. 2004.)
Model Comment:
"Reference to Model 203 was added by CvdL because that model appears to represent a boat of about 19ft overall length which coincides with the Nora from 1882. Note that model 203 appears to explicitly state on its back 'Nora 1880' but the Nora from 1880 was considerably shorter, suggesting that the year in the inscription may have been in error." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. April 15, 2024.)
Note: Vessels that appear in the records as not built, a cancelled contract, a study model, or as a model sailboat are listed but not counted in the list of vessels built from a model.

"... The Herreshoff Company occasionally tries its hand in the building of a sailing craft, and judging from the Nora, a cat-rigged boat, their efforts are as successful as ever. This boat, 18 feet long, which is not yet a month old, has already taken two prizes, that being the number of races in which she has taken part. The Nora was built in one week, so much haste being required to get her off for the regatta on the Fourth of July, which was held in Bristol, R. I. ..." (Source: Anon.
