Model Comment:
"Possibly built from Model 809 which is undated, has a peaked stern, and at a scale of 1/12 is believed to be for a boat about 33ft long, thus matching the description in the untitled list of early HMCo boats (Halsey C. Herreshoff Collection at the Herreshoff Marine Museum, MRDE03) which shows six 33ft fish boats with round or peaked stern at a place in the list which suggests the year 1866 or 1867 and also matching the list of early HMCo boats in NGH's 1871 to ca 1874 calendar (Halsey C. Herreshoff Collection at the Herreshoff Marine Museum, Model Room Rolltop Desk) which shows 33ft long fish boats with peaked stern at a place in the list which suggests the year 1866 or 1867." Note: Vessels that appear in the records as not built, a cancelled contract, a study model, or as a model sailboat are listed but not counted in the list of vessels built from a model.
