Research Note(s)
"Frame space 6"; Molds 14/12 of new figures, in book for #718 [Alerion III], Built for HMCo Stock together with three other dinghies which were eventually sold for use on #301p Magistrate, #305p Lady Gay and for #954s Mary Rose, as per notes on plan 28-46. This entry was added to Maynard Bray dinghy database by CvdL as per note on plan 28-46." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. October 26, 2009.)
"This vessel's building date was determined from notes on the original plan. Plan 28-46 (formerly 76-122) from which this boat was built was drawn 1915-12-06." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. October 26, 2009.)
"Quite certainly this is one of the 15 dinghies built for the New York 40 class and mentioned as having been completed in N. G. Herreshoff's diary on February 9, 1916. Twelve of these dinghies were assigned job number Every New York 40 except the latecomer #804s Squaw was mentioned on the plan by name. We may thus assume with some certainty that this dinghy, originally built for HMCo stock, was sold with #804s Squaw." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. November 5, 2011.)
"Built in 65 days (contract to finished)." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. January 16, 2024.)
